Burnie Waterfront Opening

The Burnie Waterfront is finally open and fully operational!

Stage Two of the project was officially opened to the public on Friday 24th February and Associate Nick travelled down to Tassie for the event.

The opening of the new stage completes the project which comprises of the reconfiguration of North Terrace, a new Surf Life Saving Club and Restaurant, an expansive public promenade with large lawn commons, sweeping seat terraces to the beach, new BBQ shelters, two playgrounds and the upgrade and expansion of the Foreshore Boardwalk.

The giant octopus water play feature is proving to be hit with all age groups and has emerged as the hero of the project.  Atomised water jets shoot from all angles whilst the creatures of the deep assume a fluorescent glow at night.

After overcoming many hurdles such as budget restraints and an ever-changing brief the Waterfront has achieved its goal by providing an elegant and highly functional space for the people of Burnie and its stakeholders.
