Gardens of Mt Macedon

My husband and I spent last weekend in Woodend, and got the chance to explore some of the lovely private open gardens of the area.  It was refreshing, after seven years of drought in Melbourne, to see amazing Autumn colours in Macedon.

We visited Campaspe House, which boasted an Edna Walling garden, but I was a little disappointed with the upkeep, and it was a bit small…  The highlight gardens for us were Tieve Tara and Forest Glade.   Both properties are private, but open to the public every day of the year, and well worth a visit.

Forest Glade boasts to be one of Australia’s largest private gardens, and is kept beautifully – I’m sure we missed parts of it, but it includes a topiary garden, Japanese garden and a Fern gully to mention a few.
